Ahhh, it’s Sunday. After a pre-birthday celebration last night it’s time to drop some tunes that I’ve been listening to today (still going with the mellow music theme). We have a classic track with Ahmad, a tribute to Mary Jane from the underrated One.Be.Lo, two weird and lovely tracks from Abstract Rude and Bisc1, and a song that Kno absolutely killed off the Cunninlynguists last album.

The wild and eccentric MC (that you may know better as Dudley Perkins) is back with his brand new record, Astormsacomin, featuring Oh No, Flying Lotus, Georgia Ann Muldrow, amongst others. Declaime, with his signature broken flow, droopy beats, and oddball swagger, has dropped another can’t miss record for the blunted youth that has been following him since his days with Madlib.
Below is my favorite track from the record, which was produced by Flying Lotus. Astormsacomin in stores now!

VTULL: Despite his hectic schedule of film, music, and parenthood, Floridian MC, Surreal, has recently dropped his latest record, Pardon My Dust, with help from S1 (Strange Fruit Project), Def Dave, Dela, Rek One, Othello, amongst others.
Below are a few of my favorite tracks from this dope Japanese release only record. You can attempt to buy the album from here, because I can’t find any American outlets. Shame. Japan knows the deal.

Front Page recently sent over this GEM featuring production from Rhymehouse friend, Ryan Durkin. Judging by this track and his last infectious jam, Money, I can tell there is a bright, bright future for this kid. Hit him up on Myspace and peep the track below.

VTULL: Been a while since I posted, but here’s a free mixtape for y’all. Read up on em, cop the tape, and check out my favorite tracks.
This rapper/producer duo known as Mirage & Concept are brand new on the scene. Concept, the producer hailing from New Zealand, makes the sounds with reflections towards the sometimes forgotten golden era of hip-hop, soul, and jazz. Whereas his partner, Mirage, started rapping at the early age of twelve, was heavily inspired by deep poetry, and grew up into hip hop naturally. Influenced by artists such as Nas and Common, he developed a unique style bringing back hip hop with meaning.
The mixtape Long Days & Long Nights comes from the long hours the pair put into the music, reflecting the big time difference between New Zealand and the U.S. After listening to this you can tell, they worked all night and all day.

Los Angeles based beatsmith, Olde Soul, has recently dropped a 7″ vinyl with Samplist consisting of 4 songs featuring Blak King and Double K (People Under the Stairs). Taking Me Places, which has been strictly limited to 500 hand copies, also features bonus beats by Olde Soul and Double K. Below is the title track from the record– a tale about weaving through LA nights over hard drums and filtered bass. Enjoy. You can purchase the vinyl here.
