Really glad Madrid didn't make it, especially with Ronaldo and Kaka missing penalties. Classic. I think the Bavarians hammer Chelski at the Allianz by 2 or 3 goals tho, even while missing half their starting defense.

Speaking of Madrid, how did this guy not work out at Tottenham? If Real wants to buy him for 30m, that's fine. But I just don't get how you get a player like this for less than 6m

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola is on the brink of quitting after telling the club he needs a break from football. News conference on Friday.

Ugh, that'd be terrible. I think if he leaves it's for Chelski, but Pep coaching England's NT is laughable. A shitty league with a shitty national team, the UK's biggest domestic concern. Maybe some billionaire will buy another team there and the soccer world will actually give a shit.

I can't stop looking at your sig...

But yeah, Pep looks like he's out the door, and it would surprise me if he did anything other than take a year off. After his last few press conferences and everything that's happened this year I can't see him jumping back into a pressure cooker at Chelsea, City, Inter, wherever.

If the English league is so shitty then how come Boateng couldn't make it there? ; )

If I was Pep I'd retire. Maybe return as a manager for Spain if possible.

 I'm pretty sure I got the sig from a google search for "retarded drunk" or something like that.

I think Barca'll be fine regardless. I'm not sure they need any type of massive overhaul, moreso they just need to unload some of their players that didn't work chemistry-wise (ala Ibra, etc.).

 True enough, but you have to admit the quality of play in England has drastically dropped in the past year or so. You know shit's bad when Man U can't even compete with Europa League teams. I would hate to become the NT coach of England; huge expectations, lots of fail abound.

I think what's happened is that there's been a slight downturn in quality at the very top of the Premier League, and teams below them have gotten better. The league as a whole is much better than it was a couple years ago, that I'm sure of.

Citing Man U's (or City's) play against teams they didn't want to play in the first place isn't an accurate depiction of the Premier League as a whole.

Would citing their play against teams they (ATLEAST SHOULD'VE) wanted to play in the CL work better then? But fair enough, I certainly agree with you that the quality at the top of the premiership has gone down dramatically. I just don't understand why Guardiola would want anything to do with the worst NT job or to leave the best league for one that's on the decline. Calling it a shitty league was hyperbole, obviously. But geez, Chelski will basically only be in the CL if they win on May 19th, LOLerpool doesn't even need to be mentioned at this point and Man Shitty has come close to buying a league title. But the biggest mindfuck is West Brom at 10th. Can you name a single player on that team? I definitely can't.

With you on Guardiola, I have no idea why he'd go to Chelsea either.

 @ your West Brom comment. It took me a WHILE, but the only two players I can name on West Brom are Foster and Odemwingie. How the fuck they're a top ten club is beyond me. I know I've watched them several times this season, but I can't remember anything remarkable - or anything at all for that matter - about the team.

Did not see these results (Barca & Real) coming. Proof I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. I've only seen Barca & Real play the CL this year, I should really stop it with the opinions.

Except everything Dutch of course!

No one saw that shit coming, dood. The CL is one fickle, fickle beast. Why do you think Sacchi was the last guy to go back-to-back?

The way he took that penalty... I saw him leading up to it and I thought, "there's no way this guy is taking one unless we go 8 to 9 deep", and there he is. First to go. And he nails it.

Also really liked how after he gave up that PK (which was pretty ludicrous btw) he charges up the field and basically serves up Robben for an equalizer that he blows over the bar. Dude has serious stones, yo.

If West Ham win today, and (already relegated) Coventry beat Southampton, the Irons are back in the top flight.

We, ajax, are league champions! 2 games to go, 6 points in front of the runner up and a goal difference of 24. I don't feel as happy as I was last year when it was more of a suprise, but still, we had an awesome comeback. We were 11 points behind halfway through the season, to come back in this fashion (winning 13 games in a row and still going) is great.

Hopefully the CL next season won't be as hard as it was this year (Lyon - Zagreb 7-0 incident). However, with Vertonghen and possibly van der Wiel moving clubs, we have our work cut out for us.

Roy Hodgson for England

Considering Harry's tactics (tactics, what's that) of late, not surprised.

 Spurs have a game in hand, so they could be a point behind Arsenal by next weekend if they (please God) beat Bolton.

What a slaughter by Wigan against Newcastle. Really didn't see the way they totally dominated coming.

Thank you Stoke! Arsenal have finally come back to earth after that ridiculous run of theirs. Van Persie scored, but he's tapered off his beastmode ways as well. As he goes so go Arsenal. Having Walcott out is going to hurt them quite a bit.

C'mon Spurs it's there for the taking.

Does anyone know where I can watch a replay of the Derby? I'm not able to watch it live and I don't have tivo and I don't want to risk stumbling across the score so I thought I'd ask here first.

Biggest game of the year, until the CL-final rolls along.

City can't use a draw, but their superior GD could put them in first place if they pull it together and win. I think they will, for some reason. Could see a crazy 3-2 or something of that sort.

Also, fuck Stoke. I'm still not sure why they boo everytime Ramsey gets the ball. Really a clueless bunch.

Cassano looked as great as ever. Played all 90 mins, a goal and two assists. Italy might have a striker for the Euro's.... I have no idea how you can cheer against someone who had a stroke/heart surgery, regardless of his previous history.

It's on ESPN, not ESPN2.

I didn't understand Fergie's choice of lineup. You could tell he was going conservative right off the bat, which I think was a mistake. I know logically it makes sense because all they need is a tie and it would have worked except for one 5 second blip but they looked out of it and defeated within 5 minutes. They should have come out on fire, the championship was theirs.

Nonetheless, City's backline was huge. Kompany is a complete beast and Zabaleta/Clichy were solid.
