I'm doing a 24 man tournament for the Best Defensive Player in the NBA since 1985. Me and my friend, Eternal (he used to post at HHI and was a co-writer along with me for The Proud Franchise) decided who were the 24 best defenders since '85. There were some tough omissions. We have already given the top 8 players byes for the play in round. The next 16 duke it out to see who faces that top 8. The top 8 are:

Hakeem Olajuwon
Dikembe Mutombo
Scottie Pippen
Gary Payton
Michael Jordan
Dennis Rodman
Tim Duncan
Dwight Howard

Even though there are some younger posters who may not remember some of the players that will be in the polls, I feel like some or most of us can still go back that far and remember some of these dudes. Judge these guys to the best of your ability. You can judge them on their whole careers, their primes, or both. It's your choice. I will post each players' accolades and achievements however don't let them be the only factors in your decision making process.

See I read that wrong. I thought you were genuinely interested in where Avery Bradley is at the moment you posted. My initial instinct was to answer that he's probably getting ready for the Heat game tonight, but boy am I glad I didnt. Wouldnt I have looked foolish? So thats my bad on misunderstanding your intent.

But, what's really kinda crazy is that your obsession with him has developed to the point that had that actually been the case, and you were really asking us WHERE IS AVERY BRADLEY RIGHT NOW? I NEED TO KNOW!...I think most folks would have just accepted that as a condition of your current state.

PEACE

Shumpert and can gaurd more positions/people, but Bradley is better.

The lineup data supports the idea that Boston has found itself a defensive lineup for the ages. Check out the carnage on NBA.com's advanced stats tool: When Bradley and Garnett play together, Boston gives up 88.8 points per 100 possessions, allows 38.8 percent shooting and forces nearly one turnover for every assist. This is scary stuff, and it's not one of those small-minute flukes, either -- they've played 658 minutes together.

You think that's impressive? How's this: When Rondo and Bradley play together, opponents average 82.2 points per 100 possessions.

That's nearly 20 points below the league average. It's in 271 minutes, so it's not as robust a sample as the data with Garnett, but good heavens. The Celtics barely need to bother with an offense if the D is going to provide this kind of domination.

He makes bringing the ball up the court extremely hard and even when not forcing TO makes other team waste around 10 seconds just to get into a play.

rubio was greg's dream before me. as previously rumored my unconditional gay awe is allegedly based around him playing with the most exciting and fast rising team in the history of sports

its bad enough new york couldnt pull off the disinformation ESPN machine to scare ricky's mom with the lack of shopping in minnesota to get him in the cesspool that is the knicks

from now on respect the pop and write Greg/Rubio

thanks for your cooperation
