I get you're being hyperbolic but this is just absurd. In that ball park he should hit no less than 30 HR (when healthy) for the next 4 years.

Whether or not he deserves that honor, there's no way this will happen so long as Timmy is a Giant. And once they resign Cain for 5/100, this scenario becomes even more unlikely.

I don't think this is that bold.

If you, said:
-Reid Brignac will shock everyone and hit .210
-BJ Upton will have a 30/40 season and have the fanbase love him again
-J.P. Howell won't be terrible

Those would be bold.

I maybe agree with half of those. I'll play along (some of my most bold predictions I'm keeping to myself since we're drafting tonight)

Tampa Bay Devil Rays: Hellboy's lack of strikeouts bites him in the ass, ERA is a full point higher than his ROY season.
Boston Red Sox: Youk makes a ton of motherfuckers feel like assholes for letting him drop to the 8th/9th rounds of their drafts. Bobby Valentine is an annoying outspoken faggot all season and Cherington spends all year looking for an excuse to fire him.
New York Yankees: Regarding ARod: see Youkilis, Kevin.
Baltimore Orioles: Adam Jones has his career year, coming close to 30/20.
Toronto Blue Jays: Brett Lawrie although a future star, once again reminds everyone not to overhype prospects. Joey Bats finally gets his MVP award.
Kansas City Royals: Aaron Crow leads the team in saves. (disagree about Butler, think he is what he is)
Detroit Tigers: Miguel Cabrera stays at third all year (remember that Leland is stubborn and loyal). No Tigers starter besides Verlander has an ERA under 4.00
Cleveland Indians: LOL @ a Sizemore comeback. Asdrubal proves last year was a fluke.
Minnesota Twins: Agree about Mauer. Think Morneau bounces back with a .280 25 hr campaign as well. Liriano's arm falls off after a month. Twins still finish last.
Chicago White Sox: Adam Dunn hits .250 and 30+ homeruns. Rios bounces back as well, continuing his "I only give a fuck every other year" streak.
Seattle Mariners: Justin Smoak outperforms Montero and Ackley in fantasy.
Texas Rangers: Rangers make it to the series for the third year in a row. They actually win it this time.
LA Angels: Abreu is released by May. Trumbo experiment at third fails and he spends most of the year in the minors.
Oakland Aג€™s: The entire year will pass with no movement on the stadium front, again.
Philadelphia Phillies: Do not get a deal with Hamels done during the year, new Dodgers ownership give him the biggest pitcher contract in history.
Atlanta Braves: Mike Minor outperforms all of the other pitchers on the staff. Hanson AND one of Kimbrel/Venters have major arm surgery mid-season.
New York Mets: Lucas Duda sucks butthole giving Dwight multiple shitfits throughout the year.
Washington Nationals: Gio leads the league in walks, has ERA over 4.
Miami Marlins: Hanley makes a serious MVP run.
Milwaukee Brewers: Zach Grienke finishes in the top 3 for Cy Young.
Houston Astros: Carlos Lee gets traded to either the Phillies or the Rays.
St. Louis Cardinals: Cards pull a 2011 Giants with an extremely shitty title defense, miss playoffs entirely.
Cincinnati Reds: Jay Bruce leads the NL with 45 homeruns but only a .250 avg.
Pittsburgh Pirates: Bedard has an awesome first half then breaks his vagina at the allstar game.
Chicago Cubs: At least 5 players call out Zambrano for being a fat lazy piece of shit when he was in Chicago.
San Diego Padres: Yonder Alonso is a bust.
Los Angeles Dodgers: Dee Gordon will set the major league record low for OPS. His teammates mistake him for the batboy on a daily basis.
Colorado Rockies: Jamie Moyer leads the team in wins.
San Francisco Giants: Fail to resign Matt Cain who also becomes a Dodger in the offseason.
Arizona Diamondbacks: Upton goes 40/30.

I don't think either Hamels or Cain resign before hitting free agency. I think we just began to see how crazy contracts for elite players are going to get this past offseason.
These new TV deals all these teams are signing are going to drastically increase each teams buying power, that's pretty much the entire reason the Dodgers are now worth 2 billion.
Dodgers have a shockingly low payroll going into next year, I bet they'll have at least 50 mill to blow in the offseason and the new owners are going to want to make a huge splash.
Hamels and Cain are the best players that will be on the market. Greinke and Phillips are #3&4 and neither of them strike me as LA guys.

Funny cause that list I posted was half positive/half negative. No one wants to read an entire list of happy predictions.

I know I take my fair share of shots but think you really need to look in the mirror. Almost every baseball related post you make you are talking shit and you take every remote slight against the Giants, even ones made in obvious jest, to heart.
The uptick in baseball shittalking began when you started posting in baseball threads again back when the Giants started playing well in 2010.

Yeah but you're a Bills fan. You've earned that right.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the Giants will re-sign Cain. I think he wants to see how the team improves offensively this year, and that they contend for the pennant again. But should that happen, I believe ultimately the team will give him the 5/100 contract he wants, and he'll stick around. It may not happen until next winter, but I believe he'll be a Giant for a long time. In fact, there is a case to be made that its worth breaking the bank to ink him and then let Tim walk after a couple years. Not sure the team would do that for PR purposes, but I believe it could be the right move over the long run.

ok play the good guy here man. Your passive aggressive shots are tired and I see through your nice-guy posts. Act like you're taking the high road if that makes you feel better, but really you'll still mad about 2010. Hence, the cheap shots 2 fucking years later. Still mad about Mitch Williams, bro?

- Tampa Bay Devil Rays: they make the WS

- Kansas City Royals: they challenge for the division title and are in it until Sept.

- Minnesota Twins: M&M boys are back. Mourneau makes it rain.
- Chicago White Sox: Adam Dunnג€™s 2011 was a fluke.
- Philadelphia Phillies:injuries catch up to this old team's position player and they end up fielding a triple A level team at some point
- Atlanta Braves: As Chipper Jones rides into the sunset, he tears his ACL and will spend his retirement on the 60 day DL (that's just fucked up man)
- Washington Nationals: Bryce Harper will be called up early in the season and win NL ROY

the only ones I felt like doing.

Actually I regulary cheer for the Blue Jays in this forum to the point where they might be my favorite AL team now. (huge fan of Joey Bats and what Anthopolous is doing. They also have a pretty cool fanbase and several former Philly top prospects that I'm rooting for. (Gose, d'Arnaud & Drabek)).

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good argument though.

fact: blue jays would own in they were in another division. and they're owned by Rogers, right? don't doubt that they got DEEP pockets.

What I don't get about bay area fans is why can't you have a favorite team in both leagues??

Motivated by the new ownership change, Matt Kemp makes good on his promise to be a 50/50 man this season.

Then if they somehow make the playoffs: sell outs of 37,000/game.

Obviously not every prediction is going to be right and you guys definitely didn't get a discount. $22.5 million a year is monster money.
There's no way Hamels signs for less than Cliff Lee money now.
Fuck.

I believed it would get done but I am surprised it got done this quickly. Not surprised at the size of the contract. 5/100+ was pretty much a given all along and I believe thats fair market value for any young, stud pitcher. Nuts to think though that for the time being Matt Cain is the highest paid righty ever.

one thing about hellboy though is that he's got to have one of the easiest, least-effortful deliveries in the game right now. cliff lee comes to mind as an elite in this category but hellickson looks like he's throwing BP when he pitches

Clemens got like $14 mil for a half season so prorated he's the highest at $28 a year. technically.

Hate to be that guy, but effortless might have been the word to were looking for here. Just a thought.

And though I agree and hope you are right re:Hellickson, I also remember Mark Prior as having one of the smoothest motions I've ever seen for a young power pitcher. And look what happened to him.

Hellickson is a lot smaller than Prior and isn't a power pitcher at all.
