Former member of San Diego's Masters of the Universe crew and you girl's favorite color team up for an eccentric tune that will appear on Gonjasufiג€™s upcoming EP, The Ninth Inning, set to drop on October 24th via Hydroshare.tv. The beat is courtesy of Johnson & Jonson (Blu & Mainframe).

The first time I heard Portland rapper Cloudy October I knew instantly that he would be an artist I would want to follow for the remainder of his career. I've been highly anticipating his new album, The Metal Jerk, since he told me about a month ago. His first leak, "Play", caught me off guard a bit (where was he going after the material I heard on The Aviator is Dead EP?), but after hearing the record in full, Cloudy proved why he caught my attention in the first place. Simply put: he isn't your average MC and he doesn't do average MC things.

In the same vein as a few of my favorite experimental west coast artists, Cloudy October presents common subjects in his own original and oddball way, rejuvenating the way one listens, absorbs, and connects with hip hop.

The Metal Jerk, is named after a rhyme style I am currently employing.

The Metal Jerk is a walking abortion. It is a rhyme style that seems to have an advantage by vocally mimicking and adhering to the instruments inside of a beat. It is inspired by popular piano right hand techniques and improvisational jazz. It is also a rhyme style that is handicapped by my lack of practice, primitive syllable placement within composition and my incessant, desperate use of the punch-in function and delay effect while recording. This album marks a period in my life that I discovered that my imagination is much larger than my skill set.

This album is dedicated to all you fucks creating safe-hop complaining about other safe-hop artists. Your blood taste terrific and you make my job really easy. My colleagues and I have discussed your plight for many years. The best advice we can give you is to start and continue to seek opinions about your work from outside of your peer group. Listeners, the industry and the times may not be the best place to place all that blame.

Picking up where their debut Gills and a Helmet left off, the songs featured on ג€œSunflowersג€ combine the soulful, heart-on-the-sleeve vocals of Lucas Dix with the whimsical melodies and grounding beats of Jeffrey Acciaioli's production. From his modest South Philadelphia recording space, emcee/producer/multi-instrumentalist Lushlife has been quietly crafting some of the most inventive and well-regarded hip-hop records of the last several years. On his latest release, a limited-edition cassette/digital offering called, No More Golden Days, Lush explores increasingly eccentric sonic territory, still effortlessly engaging listeners with his undeniable pop sensibilities and classic east coast flow. Clearly the work of an artist interested in conveying feeling through sound, No More Golden Days ebbs-and-flows like a classic DJ blend tape. Lushlife deftly moves from the same hip-hop instrumentals youג€™ll hear on Top 40 radio, to narcotic arrangements of mid-ג€˜80s synth-pop jams. Itג€™s obvious that every millisecond of No More Golden Days is carefully executed to emote precisely what Lushlife wants you to feel. ג€œI guess at its core, Golden Days is built on a sense of Impressionism,ג€ he reflects. ג€œI wanted to make the listener feel certain complex feelings, but also somehow sidestep the direct musical routes for eliciting those feelings. Like, for example, I donג€™t want to directly remind you of your favorite Rakim or Beach Boys record. I just want to try and use everything at my disposal to give you a little bit of the feeling you got, the first time you ever heard those records.ג€

Whether heג€™s flipping tween-pop starlet Katy Perry into a blissed-out whip-banger, or rapping on blown-out Clams Casino instrumentals, Lushlife is seemingly pushing the listener toward some gauzy, autumn night in his mind, with each successive track on this mixtape. So ultimately, No More Golden Days is not simply a work of post-millenial genre-hopping. Instead, its strength can be found in Lushlifeג€™s unique ability to make Dilla, Katy Perry, Slowdive, and Drake feel like theyג€™re part of one strangely, but perfectly-connected lineage.

Michigan meets Texas on this new banger from Michigan producer 14KT and Texas legend Bun B. The connection happened after 14KT's big win at the Red Bull Big Tune battle and cashing in his prize-- working with an artist of his choice.

Toronto based group Notes to Self connects with Fashawn for their new song together, "Mr. Polite". Notes recorded with Fash in Toronto earlier this year courtesy of their mutual friend Evidence. The song that emerged from the meeting shows a different side of Notes to Self, a departure for both themselves and Fashawn as they tackle the topic of girl at home vs. girls on the road.

Following up last yearג€™s critically acclaimed release, ג€œNineteen Ninety Nowג€, comes an additional bonus set from the MC/Producer duo of Celph Titled & Buckwild. Kentucky rapper Nemo Achida has been impressive since I first heard his North Star EP last year. On November 15th he will release a new mixtape titled Nemotional, which will drop via DJBooth, and follows up his summer 2011 release, Goodbye Brooklyn.

Casual has quietly been having a great year. Following up his slept on summer album, The Hierophant, Smash Rockwell drops HE Think He #Rapgod featuring Hiero homies Del the Funky, Tajai, Pep Love and other guest spots from Planet Asia, J Rawls, and more. Since the #Rapgod doesn't do mixtapes, this album is to hold over all Casual's fans until the release, HE Still Think HE Raw, set to release the first quarter of 2012.

Memorecks is a dope producer from Toronto that I accidentally came across a few months ago after a night of Youtube confusion. A few months ago, I covered a few of his addicting youtube videos and a free release he dropped around that time called Camcorder. I happened to check in on his website last night and found that he is still hard at work pounding pads and blessing us with free music.

Downtime is his latest 19-track offering featuring a slew of his signature spacey slaps. Here is a sample below, as well as the album download. When you get a chance, check out his Youtube page to see him in action.

Swimming his way through millions of YouTube views and subscribers, sold out shows overseas, and his recent knockout relationship with Knocksteady, Dumbfoundead has emerged as the star from the Swim Team crew and continues his career with his most cohesive and fresh album to date, DFD. Released two weeks ago on iTunes and on Knocksteady, Dumb has already released a few leaks and videos that I had absolutely no clue about. So, allow me to catch up as you catch on.

DCג€™s very own Damu the Fudgemunk offers up his version of Otis Reddingג€™s Try a Little Tenderness and excels at it. If you like what you hear, you can cop on 7″ over at UGHH. I came across this Denver, Colorado based bunch after peeping their "Dear Industry" video earlier today and I'm definitely digging their sound and overall ethos. It's not often you get a large collective going in cohesively year after year. Hopefully they continue to churn out records like Brunch and follow the path of fellow West Coast crews like Living Legends and Bored Stiff.

The Foodchain, a hip hop collective based out of Denver, Colorado is a one of a kind team of MCs and producers. This band of ג€œsuper friendsג€ is vocally represented by four MCs: Mic Coats, C-1, FL, and ChampionSoundKillaBlack, internally dubbed ג€œthe offenseג€. The sound is driven by ג€œthe defenseג€ led by by two incredible producers, Mass Prod and MoHeat, and accompanied by DJ Louiscide on keys, the ones and twos, and bass, and percussionist Alex The Great.

The Foodchainג€™s sound delivers cinematic and soulful wordplay over scores of electrifying funk and hip hop infused to rock & roll courtesy of the groupג€™s in house production team. The Foodchain strives to embody the authentic elements of the hip hop culture from the endangered vinyl scratching DJ and live instrumentation used in production to the MCs ferocious wordplay and conscious lyrics.

I've been following this dude for awhile and I have a feeling this is going to be his best release yet.

Watching The Throne (presented by Amalgam Digital & Fly Society) sees the Sac-town emcee takes Hov and Yeezyג€˜s advice and flips their theme with this concept album follows the the reign and fall of a newly-crowned ג€œking.ג€ The 20 track street release has features from Sundown (of Actual Proof), Sean Boog, Makeshift, Keno, Haz Solo, PCH, and Abstract Ninjaa.

I missed out on the first Derek 32zero leak with Kweli (see below), but I'm digging what this MC from Chesapeake, Virginia is dropping with Nottz.

Following the success of ג€œLift ג€˜Em Upג€ feat. Talib Kweli, VA emcee Derek 32zero drops the second single ג€œSuper Fantastic Sh*tג€ with production being handled again by the master of the ASR, Mr. Nottz Raw. This one is dedicated to all who enjoy riding around town bumping their favorite tunes. Derek 32zeroג€™s Iג€™m Not Bargaining is coming soon, so be on the lookout for more new music in the near future.

I really enjoy when producers put together "tribute"/"muse" projects dedicated to one artist. Almost every single time they end up being cohesive, tastefully executed, and full of focus and passion. North Carolina based beatsmith L'Orange's latest project, Old Soul, an audio tribute to the beautiful and incendiary Billie Holiday, is no different. Much like Dela's Robert Glasper beat tape and The Apple Juice Kid's nod to Miles Davis, L'Orange gathers a bushel of Billie's best and adds a twist of his own homegrown NC citrus that adds a new flavor to an already tasty slice of historic music.

L'Orange's new record is mostly instrumental, but below I'm going to go ahead and highlight the single vocal track that features Hassaan Mackey, yU, and Kelsey Lu because it's that fresh. The rest you can check out and stream/download on his bandcamp page.

Here is a cut off of French producer Doc Singe's latest record, Kiss of the Beast, featuring Kool Keith, PaceWon MF Grimm, Insight, Count Bass D, Lil Sci aka John Robinson, 2Mex, Freestyle Professors, Rob Swift, more. I wasn't really feeling the album, but this Insight track is cool.

I'm amped to hear this new Fashawn track right now because it only means that 2012 is on the horizon and brand new Fashawn projects are that much closer.

2010 XXL Freshman Fashawn is back with his next project ג€œChampagne and Styrofoam Cupsג€ which is tentatively slated for a March 2012 release. Although Fashawn has been working on his followup album to Boy Meets World with producer Exile, heג€™s also been in the studio non stop recording with various producers. Champagne and Styrofoam Cups will be 12-14 original tracks accompanied with a 45 minute mini movie directed by Punit Dhesi. Hereג€™s the latest track from Fashawnג€™s vaults ג€œGeneration Fג€ produced by ATG. Look for more music and videos coming in the upcoming weeks.

I've loved Junk Science since I first heard "Roads" on an American Eagle television while shopping with my girlfriend (Hip Hop as FUCK alert!). Since then, Junk Science has continued to float under everyone's radar, despite releasing forward thinking, well produced, accessible hip hop since 2005. I was really excited about the Embedded Music label back in the day, mainly due to the fact that it held some of my favorite unsung heroes of the mid-2000s in Cool Calm Pete/Babbletron, Junk Science, and Bisc1, but sadly it disappeared as soon as they peaked. Luckily, a few years later, Baje One filled that void when he launched Modern Shark.

Baje's label has been around for over a year now and continually shells out original, interesting, and progressive music that the "blogosphere" ignores. There latest label compilation, Modern Shark Sampler Tape #3, might be the tape that shakes bloggers up, as they drop really dope material featuring internet rap nerd darlings Serengeti and Cool Calm Pete, great Junk Science material, and really intriguing material from artists I've never heard of in Cavalier, Big Urban, and King Guttah I.

Shabaam Sahdeeq leaks a new joint off his upcoming Relentless Part 2 project featuring Rock (of Heltah Skeltah).

Today we have an exclusive sneak preview into two new, under-the-radar releases from St. Louis multi-talent Veto Money, better known as Black Spade, coming in the form of the new full-length LP, The Sweetest Revenge & the corresponding ג€œN.R.L.ג€ 12″ EP.

The Sweetest Revenge is Spadeג€™s official sophomore effort the follow up to his solo debut, 2008′s To Serve With Love, which, on the sly was really the St. Louis equivalent to The Chronic or Welcome 2 Detroit serving both as a proper introduction of the cityג€™s talent for anyone outside of its scene, & also, a launching pad for much of the cityג€™s unheralded talents.

The holiday season has Fashawn in the giving mood as of late because he released two more loosies over the weekend. These two cuts show a lighter and bouncier side of the NorCal rapper, opposed to his more introspective and conscious work that he is known for with Exile.

One of the most underrated pounding pads today is the Wizard of Watts, Dibia$e. Combining 8-bit sounds with soulful samples and ear blistering drums, the Diabolical one has destroyed the blogosphere with his beats for years and continues his rise to the top where the creme de la creme belong.
