Reading this at the moment.

Quote:
Americaג€™s most distinguished commentator on foreign policy, former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, offers a reasoned but unsparing assessment of the last three presidential administrationsג€™ foreign policy. Though spanning less than two decades, these administrations cover a vitally important turning point in world history: the period in which the United States, having emerged from the Cold War with unprecedented power and prestige, managed to squander both in a remarkably short time. This is a tale of decline: from the competent but conventional thinking of the first Bush administration, to the well-intentioned self-indulgence of the Clinton administration, to the mortgaging of Americaג€™s future by the ג€œsuicidal statecraftג€ of the second Bush administration. Brzezinski concludes with a chapter on how America can regain its lost prestige. This scholarly yet highly opinionated book is sure to be both controversial and influential.

Really?

I liked the Border Trilogy a lot, but I can't imagine ever reading it again.

Yeah, a friend of mine thinks McCarthy is the best living author and it's the only book of his I own at the moment so I'm rereading it just to see how I feel a/b him now, five or so years later. My Dad also mentioned that he can't read McCarthy b/c his writing reminds him of a geography survey w/ its emphasis on landscape so I'm going in w/ a fresh perspective.

Jim Hightower cracks me up while being informative.
Hearing about Mr. Zinn reminded me of how good this book is.

enjoying the shit out of these two right now, the bible book is great shitter material, the fukuyama one just makes me wish he would write another because its 8 years old and the way science grows, but his ideas of consequences are fucking great. Plus it has creepy clone babies on the cover.
